Janet Prescott has joined fabricdirector-e to write on fabric and colour trends, reporting from major European exhibitions. She will also contribute features and profiles to the new site. One of the best-known trade magazine writers in the UK, Janet started her career on Ambassador Magazine, after studying French at Southampton University and La Sorbonne in Paris, writing about fashion and fabrics with an international focus. She became freelance and in the past twenty years has worked on most of the major trade fashion and fabrics titles in the UK and several in Europe. She has been deputy editor of Textile Forecast, editor of the men’s trade fashion magazine Preview, fashion editor of Men’s Wear, has written features for Draper’s Record and International Textiles and presently is a regular named contributor to such publications as Fashion Business International, Company Clothing and Knitting International. Work with major US buying houses increased her practical knowledge of the textile market, which she has been able to incorporate in her writing. Janet has covered most of the major European fabric and fashion fairs such as the Florence Pitti Shows, Milan and Paris Prêt à Porter and is a regular visitor to fabrics and yarn exhibitions Premiere Vision and Expofil.
